My Project Timeline

I think making a poster for spreading awareness about the problems of bullying would be the best idea because they are very eye catching and people won't need a long time to read it. The good thing about posters are that they can summarize paragraphs into only a few words. Drawings and pictures also help for getting attention.

Timeline:
  1. Create and design poster- Tuesday June 1, 2010
  2. Finish creating and designing poster- Friday June 4, 2010
  3. Post poster in the school- Monday June 7, 2010
  4. Small group sharing- Monday June 7, 2010
  5. Peer evaluations- Monday June 7, 2010
  6. My evaluation (self-evaluation)- Tuesday June 8, 2010

The Problem

Problem:

Bullying (physical bullying, verbal bullying, indirect bullying, social alienation, intimidation and cyber bullying)

What can I do about it?

I can tell people to be more respectful and kind to others.

I can tell people that they should learn to respect each other for what they are. For example, race, gender, height and physical appearance.

I can tell people to only let out words of praise, and not words that will hurt feelings.

I can avoid being the bystander at the scene, but instead help the victim by getting more withnesses or dealing with the problem myself.

I can make posters around the school about stopping bullying to raise awareness about this issue.

Character

Character:

Good character is features and traits that form the individual nature of someone. Examples of great character include their behaviour, actions, expressions and feelings.

I have completed some of the good character traits, but some of them I am still working on. I have been honest in many ways at school and at home. Usually, I will avoid lying or saying false statements about other people, but sometimes I can't control it. Perseverance is another trait that I have. When there are challenges in life, I will have the perseverance to complete it. I might not always want to do the challenge, but I will at least try my best. Obedience also helps me a lot. If I don't have this trait, I will be doing the wrong work and having to start all over again. I obey my parents, my teachers, and even my friends. Sometimes it is hard to obey things that you disagree or dislike. I would suggest you to just obey, and something might benefit you. Being patient is the hardest trait for me to follow, because I always like to just finish the work but not do a good job of it. When it comes to the details that are required in the work, I usually don't do as well. If you have all these traits together, you will have an easier life.

End Statement

Character:
Each student will possess the character to do what is right, act morally with wisdom, and balance individual concerns with the rights and need of others.

The Problem Brainstorm

What Is The Problem?

Bullying (physical bullying, verbal bullying, indirect bullying, social alienation, intimidation and cyber bullying)

Why Do I Care?

I care about the problems of bullying because i can easily become a victim or it. I want to stop this problem before it will happen to my friends and I. People these days are being more and more offensive and non respectful to others.

Why Should Others Care?

People in our society should care about bullying because there should be equality and equity in the society. Everyone should be treated the same way. Bullying can be contagious, if people don't stop it now, everyone will soon be a victim of bullying.

Tech Questions

Questions:

  1. Do computers give us more human connections or fewer human connections?
  2. Create five rules for the Internet manners/ethics.
  3. Should teachers encourage or discourage multitasking?
  4. Compose a six word poem about an experience you've had online.
Answers:

  1. I think computers give us fewer human connections because you have no chance to talk and meet people directly. It will also lower your speech skills because you will on chat online and have not chance to practice talking to other people. When people communicate online, they usually shorten words or use wrong grammar to be more efficient. This will not allow them to learn the proper language.
  2. Never be offensive, racist, biased, libellous or obscene on the Internet.
  3. Teachers should not allow multitasking because students can easily be distracted. Students who don't multitask will only do one activity which will lead to better focus. If students do multitask a lot, their brain might need to work harder and they will get tired more often.
  4. Fun, Interesting, Exciting, Informative, Instant, Helpful
